Frequently asked questions

  • Is my data private?

Yes. CBT Quest stores your reflections on your device in an encrypted SQLite database (SQLCipher). Audio is sent to a transcription service ephemerally and deleted immediately after processing. Our servers never persist the content of your journal.

  • How do I delete my data?

To delete on-device data, remove the app from your device. To delete the anonymous metadata we retain (timestamps, durations, quota counts), email us from the address below with your Device Verification Code (see below). We acknowledge deletion within 30 days.

  • What's the Device Verification Code?

CBT Quest has no user accounts — we identify devices by a random, rotating code that only your device knows. When you want to request access, correction, or deletion of the anonymous metadata tied to your device, open Settings → Privacy → Data Controls in the app to see your Device Verification Code, then email it to us.

  • Which languages are supported?

The app ships in English and Russian. Transcription supports additional languages automatically based on what you speak.

  • Where can I get the app?

CBT Quest is currently in closed TestFlight. A public App Store launch will be announced on this website.

Data rights requests

If you're in the EU, UK, California, Washington State, or another region with consumer privacy laws, you have the right to access, correct, or delete the anonymous metadata we retain about your device. To submit a request:

  1. Open CBT Quest on your device.
  2. Go to Settings → Privacy → Data Controls and copy your 8-character Device Verification Code.
  3. Email info@cbt.quest with your code and the type of request (access, correction, deletion).

We respond within 30 days. We will not ask you to prove your identity with personal documents — the Device Verification Code is what proves ownership of the device.
